Dedication of the Shotwell-Aulick Fellowship Hall

What a joyous celebration! We had 41 people in worship and shared a meal together in our new fellowship hall. We had three babies, some teenagers, plus a feisty older crew. We thank all the family members and old time friends who came to make it such a meaningful event.

January 4, 2009

The new fellowship hall is complete! The adult Sunday School class will meet in it next week. Everyone is invited to our Casual Dress Sunday and soup and sandwich meal on January the 18th. We will dedicate and worship in the fellowship hall. So come join us, remember, worship will also be in the fellowship hall this Sunday.

This Sunday the emphasis was on epiphany, light and lighthouses. Pastor Dave asked, "How can Morgan Christian Church be a lighthouse to the world?" Mamie Faulkner loaned us some wonderful pictures of lighthouses. Wayne Keith was our guest musician.

Sandi Baxter brought guest animals for Sunday School. Here is Derek McCormick holding a rooster. She also had rabbits. Who knows what kind of creatures she'll have next week.

Women's Sunday and Bridget's Baby Shower

What a wonderful service with Charlotte as lay reader, Gloria, Julie, Kathy and Jeanne serving at the table and Faye and Brandi bringing the message! The parsonage was packed with friends and family for Bridget's baby shower.

Youth Activity

Prayer and football are a wonderful combination. Jacob, Cody, Josh, Dakota, Ryan, Micah along with Derrick and David (not in the picture) skipped rocks, prayed and played football. It was a lot of fun. Thanks to the Hardins for letting us play in their field.

The New Fellowship Hall

We look forward to many good times in the new fellowship hall. We also hope that this addition will be an asset to the Morgan community.

Community Meeting

There will be a Community Meeting Sunday 10/26 at 5pm at the church to discuss some of the issues in our community. The meeting will be mediated by Merrill "Mitch" Mitchell who is state certified in mediation.

It was good to see Joe, Pat and Tyler Lemmon as well as Nancy and Ben Johnson Sunday!

Busy Weekend

Thanks to Brandi Moreland who organized a youth/young adult camping trip Friday night. We had 8 spend the night and as many as 15 enjoy the campfire. We skipped rocks, fished, caught crawdads, made s'mores, sang, played football, prayed and just enjoyed each other.

Thanks to Carole Cole who provided the special music today.

New prayer concerns include Iva Wilson who should be coming home from the hospital today, Jimmy Godman and Charley Whaley.

Special Recognitions

Charlie Lemmon was recognized today as an Elder Emeritus.

Kathy and Lois organized a church softball team reunion. It was a wonderful time to reconnect.

New Deacons

Bill Baxter and Julie Wu were installed as new deacons last Sunday.

Ed McCandless

Our prayers go out to Brenda, Ashley, Amanda and all of the family and friends of Ed. Ed was a long time member of Morgan Christian Church. Kathy Moreland fondly referred to him as the "Mayor of Morgan." Ed always knew what was going on at Morgan and he helped many people over the years. He will be sorely missed.

Funeral for Karen Oaks

Please keep Gina Barney and her family in your prayers. Her adopted mother Karen Oaks passed away last night around midnight. Visitation is at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Crittenden from 4-8pm Friday 8/22 and the funeral is Saturday 8/23 at 11am.

Two Upcoming Baptisms!

On August 24th, Joshua David Wu and James Ray Hensley will be baptized in the South Licking River. You are invited to a baptism breakfast at 9am.

Open House

Everyone enjoined eating Chinese food at the Wu's house after church on August 3.
